I love almond butter! You can find all kinds in grocery and specialty stores, so why do you need to make your own, you ask? I’ve tried SO MANY brands and most of them have other ingredients besides almonds, even the organic ones. I don’t want safflower or sunflower oil, among other things, in my almond butter, so I decided to make my own. And I’m so glad I did! It’s super easy and this is the best almond butter I’ve EVER tasted. I mean ever! You are in control of the consistency and the flavor. All you need is a food processor, some almonds and salt. If you want to get fancy, a little cinnamon or cacao will do it! The trick to making perfect almond butter is all in the timing.
Follow this recipe to a “T” and you will get, what I think is, the perfect consistency. If you like yours thicker or thinner, adjust the timing on the second time you turn on the processor. At first you’ll think there’s no way this is going to work out because it will look like almond meal. But, I promise it will turn into delicious, creamy perfection!
I love this almond butter with apples, in smoothies and just right out of the jar!
