All of these things are free through tomorrow, August 24th at 11:59pm PST! Yes, you read right, FREE!
I know, I know this is not food! It’s a different type of post from my usual kitchen adventures, however it has everything to do with HEALTH! It’s such a great offer that I have to share it!
As I’ve been on my search for health through food, I’ve become very much aware that what I put on my body is just as important as what I put in it. I’ve tried many natural, organic and healthy skincare products and spent a lot of money trying to find products that are both safe and high-performing. This search is how I came across Beautycounter.
Beautycounter has a fantastic special going on through tomorrow, but I first want to tell you why it’s important to consider the products you use and be as careful about what you put on your body as you are about what you put in it.
Why is it important to use safe products? If it’s on the shelf at the store, isn’t it regulated and safe? These are two questions I think are so important to answer.
Why are safe products important? Decades of studies indicate that serious health issues (including but not limited to asthma, cancer, and infertility) are on the rise and are due in some part to our ongoing exposure to toxic chemicals—whether it’s in the shower, on our commute, while we eat lunch at a local restaurant, when we clean our kitchens at home or through what we put on our bodies. How many products do you use before you walk out the door in the morning? I know my list starts with soap, body wash, shampoo, conditioner, lotion, deodorant, eye cream, face serum, face cream, sunscreen, leave-in hair moisturizer, hair finishing product, foundation or tinted moisturizer, concealer, face powder, eye shadow, mascara, blush, lipstick or gloss – and that’s just to get out the door! Then there’s hand cream throughout the day. Possibly perfume. Every one of these products includes chemicals, sometimes hundreds, and many of them are toxic. For example, many lip products include lead. Where does that go when you put it on? I know much of mine gets eaten off and I’m ingesting that lead.
If a product is available for purchase, can’t I assume it’s safe and the ingredients are regulated by the government? You would think so, but that’s not always the case. The United States has not passed a major federal law to regulate the safety of ingredients used in personal care products since 1938. That’s crazy!!! Over the past two decades, the European Union has banned more than 1,300 chemicals in the product formulas of personal care products and restricted the levels of over 250 more in such products. The United States has only partially banned 11 to date.
Beautycounter is committed to a health and safety standard that goes well beyond what’s required by U.S. law. Beautycounter has banned the use of more than 1,500 questionable or harmful chemicals through their “Never List”—all while ensuring the products perform and that they’re as indulgent as any other luxe shampoo, lipstick, or oil in the market! Not only are they creating safe products, but they’re working at the legislative level to help implement change in how personal care products are regulated. I think this is amazing and this is why I’ve partnered with Beautycounter.
So, what’s in it for you right now?
